Clove scent notes

Spicy and aromatic with a woody-sweet intensity.

Clove oil comes from the dried flower buds of an evergreen tree, and it is mostly eugenol. That gives it a warm, woody-sweet spice that many people connect with a dentist's office, where eugenol has long been used.

Clove belongs in the heart of a blend, where it partners naturally with cinnamon and tonka bean. Eugenol is the reason to test. It can darken soap and wax, it can speed up trace in cold process, and it carries IFRA limits, so check each oil's certificate before you set a usage rate.
