Essential Oil Dilution Chart
Getting the ratio right is the difference between a blend that works and one that doesn't. This chart gives you a clear drop-by-drop guide for diluting essential oils into your carrier oil or base, from a gentle 0.5% for sensitive skin applications up to a 5% blend for targeted use.
Dilution rates are calculated at approximately 20 drops per mL and mapped across four common base volumes: 10mL, 15mL, 30mL, and 100mL. Keep in mind that drop size is not universal. Bottle opening diameter, dropper style, and oil viscosity all affect how much comes out with each drop. Thicker oils like vetiver or patchouli tend to drop more slowly and in larger amounts, while thinner oils move faster. Treat these numbers as a reliable starting point, not an exact formula, and adjust based on your specific oils and equipment.
Whether you're filling a roll-on, formulating a massage oil, or batching a larger run, this chart gives you a confident place to begin.
Use this alongside our carrier oils and soap making supplies to take your blend from idea to finished product.
