Maple scent notes

Maple smells of syrup warming on a stove: sweet, woody and a little like burnt sugar. Much of the effect comes from sotolon, a molecule also found in fenugreek, which is why fenugreek can smell surprisingly like pancakes.

Maple shows up throughout a dessert blend and leans on tonka bean and vanilla. It belongs in fall and breakfast-style candles. Sweet notes like this often carry vanillin, so test light-colored wax and soap before committing.
