Kid Safe DIY Liquid Hand Soap
Sometimes it can be a battle to get our kids to wash their hands. But what if we make it a little more fun?
Making our own kid-friendly hand soap is an easy and super fun project that the entire family can work on together. Our children can be involved with choosing the scents they want their soap to have and even help to mix all the ingredients together. Being able to create something that’s unique to them will make it an exciting treat to use every day.
Not only is this a fun way to make our children more excited to wash their hands, but it also eliminates the possibility of unknown chemicals we find in commercial soaps. Some essential oils have natural antibacterial properties that make them a perfect choice for DIY projects like this. Not all essential oils are safe for children. Below is a list of essential oils that we can safely use in our kid’s handmade soap.

*The essential oils listed above are safe to use on children in the liquid soap recipe we provide and if diluted at 3% or lower. This liquid soap recipe is not meant to be used on children under the age of 2 years old. Keep all essential oils out of the reach of unsupervised children. Always wear gloves and long sleeves while working with essential oils.
To make our DIY handsoap we will be using liquid castile soap. This soap is unscented, non-toxic, and safe for the whole family to use. To keep our hands soft, we’ll also be adding fractionated coconut oil. Using a carrier oil will provide moisture and protection for our skin. You can also swap carrier oils if you prefer, such as Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, or Aloe Vera Oil.
