Coconut scent notes

Sweet, milky and creamy.

The scent of coconut comes from lactones, creamy molecules that also turn up in peaches and dairy. That is why coconut fragrance smells sweet and milky rather than nutty.

Fractionated coconut oil is a different thing entirely: a carrier oil with no real scent, so it will not give a blend this note. Coconut usually opens a blend and sits well with tropical fruit, violet and warm spice. It anchors beach and vacation blends and softens vanilla.
